ABOUT
Verano Verano is Puerto-Rican playwright Myrna Casas’ poetic take on the classic memory play. Middle-aged couple Juan and Adriana spend every summer by the sea, until one summer when both their children drown. Juan starts seeing the ghost of their daughter Celeste, and Adriana is haunted by guilt over her affair and having loved Celeste less.

Paying tribute to the people affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and Pablo Neruda’s summer home at Isla Negra, we chose to stage this US Premiere as if the characters were suspended in a sea of grief and dreams, visited only by hurricane debris and yearning for a distant shore that seems to get further and further away.
