ABOUT
Blanco explores the cult of physical “perfection” in contemporary society, seen from the lens of immigrant experience.

The two principal characters, Commander One and Soldier Other belong to an apparent highly advanced community where “them the others” are not allowed to enter. Living standards are linked to strictly monitored aesthetics, determined by their beauty deity and martyr Totomoch (Too Too Much)

Blanco won the 2004 Asunción Project contest at Pregones Theater; and the HOLA and ACE 2007 awards, becoming the first author to simultaneously win the last two awards.

FROM THE AUTHOR
“For many human beings, the negative – ideologies, epidemics, crimes – often occurs with the arrival of people from other places. Little by little we get used to it and we even participate in this show of worldwide proportions. We regret that there are children living in cages, adults who are detained for seeking asylum, human beings who have lost and lose their lives crossing a border. The parodic tone of “Blanco” seeks an alternate narrative. It is a work with humor that hides the anguish of rejection, of the xenophobic phrase that triggers persecution.”
